Omg Omg... Such a sad story...

I was at a supermarket this afternoon buying the company's groceries for the pantry area when this old 80's malay man approached me. Here's what the translated conversation was like:-

Old man (looking worried): Lil’ sis... could you do me a favour and help me?

Me: Maybe.. If I can help, I'll help.

Old man: Oh u see.. I came from the Singapore Post to pay my utilities/electric bill but... I wanted to pay them but they say I cant pay with this much that I have... The water and electricity line had been cut off and my grandchildren are still there trying to study... They say I need to pay this amount and Im short by this amount... *he then show me the water bill* could you be kind and top up the balance for me?

I saw the bill and guess how much it totals up to...??? $8,200 ++ My gdness!! Of course they didnt ask the old man to pay that much on the spot.. a few hundred bucks was expected to be paid back.. and he was short by a few 10 bucks... And so I pity him and gave him more than a few 10 bucks.. well almost all my money in the wallet... If I could find an ATM machine, I would have withdraw more and give to him.

He thanked me a lot of time and I told him that it was nothing much. The more important thing is to settle that bill and get the power back on. For the sake of the grandchildrens... They are his future...

But the thing that touched my heart was when wipe his tears and walked away. Oh gosh.. it broke my heart seeing that.... Im so grateful of what GOD has given me... And I shouldn't be complaining about anything at all.. There's so much more worse out there..
